You can hide or un-hide any file, folder or drive from Windows operating system easily. For files and folders, you can get its properties, and from attributes, select hidden to hide it. Windows hides some system files and folders by default. For system tweaking and advanced controls you can unhide and view all hidden files and folders. Here is how.
Go to Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View -> Advanced Settings -> Files and Folders -> Select check box that says, ‘Show hidden files, folders and drives’ as described in the screenshot below.
To unhide protected system operating files, un-check box below that says, ‘Hide protected operating system files’.
For Windows XP
Select ‘Tools’ from main menu of any opened folder. Select ‘Folder Options’. Go to View -> Advanced Settings -> Files and Folders -> Select check box that says, ‘Show hidden files and folders’.
Show Hidden Files and Folders will show you only hidden files and folders created by the user. To show protected system operating hidden files, you will have to un-check that box from below at the same settings.
